Interim
Management
Interim
management may be defined as the short term assignment of proven
senior managers and executives to manage specific projects in all
disciplines or complete particular pieces of work that cannot be
readily resourced from within an organisations current workforce.
It can also be used to fill specific skill gaps in the organisation
structure caused by the introduction of new technology, unplanned
promotions and dismissals, market change and development and any
organisation or business change requiring new and original thought
outside the primary activity.
The
ideal interim manager needs to have significant operational management
experience, the ability to communicate effectively and commitment
to gain credibility quickly within the management team. ‘Up and
running from Day 1’ describes interim management responsibility.
Knowledge and skills gained in different industries and willingness
to work outside their career / discipline ‘box’ is essential. The
ever developing global marketplace demands an understanding of the
subtle barriers of social and business customs present in different
countries and this has been reinforced by the changes in the UK
public sector and the demands of differing ethnic communities. The
interim manager is vital in enabling traditional management to develop
an understanding of these ‘business change’ pressures whilst continuing
to perform their normal business functions.
Management
Consultancy Group (MCG) has developed a unique ability to provide
suitable manpower to commerce, industry and the public sector with
the skills required by organisations. Its extensive team is qualified,
capable and focussed. As they are not attempting to build a long
term career in the client business, they can be challenging and
open with the organisation without threat to staff or their positions.
